Werner Roger Neck was born in 1944 in upper Silesia. After the getaway in 1945 he lived for the first three years -which have been very formative- in Tyrol. In 1947 the family moved to Hessisch -Oldendorf in the Weserbergland where he grew up. In his early youth his father, who was a church painter, inspired him to drawing.
After schooldays he became a painter. This time did have a big influence on his later professional career. He got experiences with different drawing techniques and materials which had been important for his following study of art at the University of Dortmund (1976 – 1981).
He worked as a counsellor and as a designer for an art company in Dortmund before he settled down in business as an art painter. In 1985 he became the chairman of the “Bünder Werkskunstkreis e.V.”. In the aftermath he did a lot of activities with people who were interested in art: Individual- or collective expositions, painting courses for adults and children, music- and literature events and an exposition in the town hall of Bünde in 1986 and the holding of the “Ravensberger Kulturtage” in 1985 which was connected to the the exposition “Spurensicherung – Aus der Welt der Zigarrenmacher” in Rödinghausen and Bünde.
Besides drawing (mostly about the topic “movements and forms in landscapes”) he teaches arts in his studio, on schools and in foreign countries. The social aspect of arts and the fact that art is something to feel and to touch and art as a mean to encourage people is the Leitmotif of his creativity.
