Günter Krausbauer was born on April 2nd, 1927 in Frankfurt am Main where he spent his youth. Involuntary he had to fight in WW 2 from 1944 on. The experiences and consequences which aroused out of this doom can be seen in many of his time-critical oil paintings and graphic arts. After the war he trained as a designer. Until 1959 he worked in different advertisement studios. He stated once that he experienced the sense and the nonsense of more or less veridical advertisement during that time. His interest applies to painters like Brouwer, Ostade, Tenier. But many of his works are also influenced by impressionists.
G. Krausbauer prefers figurative illustrations in many variations. His repertoire ranges from the above mentioned time-critical designs, over impressionistic paintings of poor districts in Italy or Spain, to paintings of drinking bouts which let one feel younger.
Almost always man is in the centre of his paintings. Today, G. Krausbauer lives in a little village in the Taunus. His works are also highly demanded outside of Europe.
