Born on November 25th 1959 in Essen. He was early introduced to the fascinating world of art because his father was the international know painter G. König (Günter Kessler). His affection for painting developed rather early and his father, who noticed the talent of his son, had been a qualified taskmaster.

After he graduated from grammar school R. König studied science at the university of Cologne. Besides his work as a scientist painting has always been a part of him. Filtering out the ageless beauty of nature is one of his ardours which can be seen in his painting as well as in his job. His role model is the classical painting of the 19th century.
