Colio is a Bulgarian born artist, who spent his childhood in the beautiful Rose Valley of the town of Kazanlak, famous for being one of the oldest towns, rich of history and traditions and having developed some of the finest artists that ever lived. An area rich in history and artifacts, such as prehistoric cave drawings, Greek sculptures and Byzantine murals it was akin to growing up in a museum and Colio absorbed the artistic bounty that surrounded him.

He began his art and life studies in one of the most renowned Fine Art Colleges and the National Accademy of the Fine Arts in the country. Colio has built his career on over 11 years of studies in European Classical Art evolving his natural talents, knowledge and technical skills to expand in the endless universe of Art’s creativity and possibilities.

Painting professionally for over 15 years, he has established a unique artistic style with a distinctive painting technique, a precise and powerful treatment of color and flawless hand drawings. His work carries subtle but deep messages from his experiences and observations. “I am fascinated by observing people’s behaviors and external projections of their subconscious and inner lifes” His work challenges human stereotypes, social programing, tampered paradigms and human weakness in form of desires and fears. Colio’s artwork is often intended to subtly communicate with the subconscious mind of the viewer.

“It is amazing the power and capability of arts to command deep psychological responses in the human mind when presented properly, causing significant changes and even altering our perceptions about reality and life.”
